Perhaps some educational elements too!

  1. Hi Team CF, such a great initiative organising these meet ups. Would love to join the Haarlem meet up, however, first I would like to get an idea how big the event will be, that is how many people you are expecting. Haha, am no fan of huge conventions. The Leiden meet up would have been great for me to ‘start’ within the Dutch FIRE community, but indeed the old long bearded guy informed me he will be at my house that specific Sunday. Anyways, hope to see one or both of you at one meet up or the other.

    1. Turns out that I personally cannot make it on the 2nd. But I have asked a local FIRE enthusiast to take my place. So the meetup is still on! Don’t expect it to be too busy, perhaps up to 20 of so. The bearded old guy will make sure this one is quitter indeed!
Haarlem has the space for up to 100 people, but we are aiming for around 50-60 or so. That is still a good crowd and you would have the opportunity to chat to as many or as little people as you want. I would not focus on the amount of people, to be honest, the atmosphere is much more important. And the ability to freely speak about money subjects without being judged. And that is always the case, irrespective of the amount of people that show up!
Hope to see you in Haarlem 🙂

      1. Cool! Will sign up right away and look forward to meeting many enthusiastic people from the community.

  2. It’s so neat to see how quickly the European financial network is growing. I’m from the US and love financial blogs, and now live in the Netherlands. I’m not sure if I’ll make it to one of these events, but I’d like to join in the future! I just (finally) started my blog, but I’ve been following your site since 2016. Keep up the good work!

  3. These are some great options to meet other people from the FI(RE) movement! Good work there Cheesy. I will be at least showing up on one of the events, see what fit’s best timewise. Looking forward. See you there!

  4. Hi. I would like to shake your hand ( and buy you some beers) at Annies. Don’t you think it will be too crowded if everyone shows up? Or have you made arrangements with the cafe? And will you be wearing a dollarbill in the buttonhole of your coat? Or how do we meet?

    1. Hi Anna, would love t shake you hand too!
No, didn’t make any arrangements at Annies. Don’t expect it to be too busy (last weekend before Sinterklaas and on a Sunday), and if I’m wrong, Annies will have a good Sunday 😉

How I can be recognized? Not sure yet (will do another reminder post with more details, but I like the dollar/Euro bill idea), but watch out for a white male tech engineer looking personen 😉

  5. Ooohhh, Haarlem, I lived there and I love it. It’s a shame it will be in dutch, my dutch is not that good yet 🙂
And Jopenkerk, one of my favourite places in town.

      1. You convinced me! It will be a good excuse to attend to my first meet up and go back one more time to my lovely Haarlem.

    1. If you want to actually join (don’t mind if you pop in for a couple of hours), we do need to know before the end of the month. Just to be able to make reservations and make the 50% down payment.
